Abstract control* of the HARD BEAT
Brisbane's Onioncak, aka Cakas or Scott Andrews, started writing beats back in early 97 and in 2001 on the back of a 5 track demo cd, snuck into the Brisbane live scene with a gig at Mantra in the Valley Mall which indirectly lead to regular gigs over the next few years at Family (Supporting Black Eyed Peas in 2002), Press Club, Rics Café, The Rev and along the way, the Valley Fiesta and other various festivals.
The Onioncak live setup involved a 4 piece band with guest vocals from various vocalists and MC’s including Miss Brown. Onioncak’s unique style of instrumental hip hop was re-created live and was very well received by usually unsuspecting audiences.
From 2001 to early 2004 Onioncak ran an online radio show on pulseradio.net called “The Dopebeats Show” where you could hear his dj mixes live and he has also dj’d out and about over the last few years in Brisbane supporting local and interstate artists.

Late 2003, in combination with Dj Dce, he put out Launderd Beats, a compilation involving their production and the cream of Brisbane MC talent including Miss Brown, Brothers Stoney, Sean B, Town Drunxxx and more. The CD was very well received all around Australia and helped showcase Onioncak’s ability to make beats for MC’s as well.

Launderd Beats featured a track called Sweet Beats, an Onioncak instrumental track which received national airplay many times via Triple J and locally on 4ZZZ. His track with Miss Brown titled “Cough Up” a huge head nodder live, was also played on Triple J’s hiphop show quite regularly.
He produced a track titled “Seriously” featuring MC Sean B which was featured on the Warner release “Straight from the Art 2” in 2004 and since then he has produced beats for quite a variety of artists releases including Miss Brown, and a deadly beat for Ken Oath and Matty B that featured on Chopper Read's album.
In 2008 you can catch Onioncak playing live around brisbane as part of "Beatshow" (a producer showcase).
